Tenuta Valleselle Rovertondo Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore 2019 is a rich and elegant red from the hills of Valpolicella, Veneto, crafted from 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella and 10% Molinara.

The wine undergoes the traditional Ripasso method, where Valpolicella wine is passed over the skins remaining from Amarone production. This second passage adds greater concentration, structure and aromatic complexity while retaining the freshness and drinkability characteristic of Valpolicella. The wine is subsequently matured for 8–10 months in French oak barrels.

🍷 Tasting Notes: Ripe cherry and juicy red fruit are complemented by aromas of vanilla, chocolate and roasted coffee. The palate is soft and generous on entry, with rounded tannins, integrated oak and persistent cherry fruit. Savoury spice and coffee notes add complexity through the finish.

🍽️ Food Pairings: Roast beef, veal, venison, beef ragù, mushroom risotto, aubergine Parmigiana, roast duck and beef rendang.

🌡️ Serve at: 16–18°C. No decanting required.

🍇 Grapes: 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, 10% Molinara | Appellation: Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore | Region: Veneto, Italy

Why This Wine Matters

Valpolicella Ripasso occupies a distinctive position between fresh Valpolicella and the considerably richer Amarone della Valpolicella. Through the traditional Ripasso technique, the wine undergoes further contact with Amarone grape skins, adding body, flavour and complexity.

Rovertondo combines this historic Veronese technique with 8–10 months of French oak maturation, creating a wine with greater depth and structure while remaining more approachable than Amarone. Its combination of ripe fruit, rounded tannins and savoury complexity makes it particularly versatile at the table.
