Why this wine matters
Aglianico is widely regarded as one of Italy's greatest red grape varieties, producing wines celebrated for their longevity, complexity and remarkable ability to evolve with age. The Irpinia Campi Taurasini DOC appellation lies within the historic heartland of Aglianico and is often considered a stepping stone to the prestigious Taurasi DOCG .
In the glass
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections.
The bouquet is rich and complex, offering black cherry, blackberry and ripe plum layered with liquorice, tobacco, cocoa, leather and sweet baking spices.
Twelve months in French oak barriques contribute subtle vanilla and cedar nuances while preserving the intensity of the fruit. On the palate, Bicento is concentrated and structured, with firm yet refined tannins balanced by Aglianico's naturally vibrant acidity. The volcanic soils of Irpinia provide freshness and minerality, giving the wine both power and elegance.
Full-bodied with concentrated fruit, polished tannins and excellent structure.
Long and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, cocoa, tobacco and savoury spice.
