Wine introduction

Overview

Organic Traisental DAC Grüner Veltliner from 25–50-year-old vines, showing white pepper, herbs, yellow fruit and excellent depth.
Markus Huber Grüner Veltliner Obere Steigen 2025 comes from old vineyards around Nussdorf in Traisental. Sandy-loam topsoil over limestone, micro-terraces and 25–50-year-old vines give the wine density and character. After eight hours of skin contact, the wine is fermented at 19°C in stainless steel and kept on its lees for four months.

Why this wine matters

Obere Steigen sits above everyday Grüner Veltliner in concentration and site expression while remaining approachable. Old vines, limestone-influenced soils and measured lees contact give it both classic peppery varietal character and additional texture.
