Wine introduction

Overview

An organically produced Rosso di Montalcino from Camigliano, offering vibrant sour cherry, red berries and savoury herbal notes. Fresh acidity, firm Sangiovese tannins and gentle oak maturation give this Tuscan red an elegant, food-friendly structure.
Camigliano Rosso di Montalcino Bio DOC 2018 is made entirely from Sangiovese Grosso grown under organic vineyard management in Montalcino, Tuscany. Following a wetter spring that replenished vineyard water reserves, the grapes were harvested at the end of September. Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and six months in large French and Slavonian oak casks preserve the wine's fragrant fruit and lively acidity while adding subtle complexity. The result is a structured, expressive Rosso di Montalcino with a distinctly savoury character.

Why this wine matters

Rosso di Montalcino offers a distinctive expression of the Sangiovese Grosso grape grown in the same Tuscan territory as Brunello di Montalcino. Camigliano's organically produced 2018 vintage combines a traditional stainless-steel fermentation with maturation in large oak casks, allowing the grape's natural freshness and savoury character to remain prominent. The estate's vintage sheet records a production of 80,000 bottles.
