Hazy pale orange with delicate rosé hues, reflecting its extended skin contact.
Expressive aromas of orange pith, rosehip, yellow nectarine and mineral notes are complemented by subtle herbal spice and a gentle touch of natural funk that evolves beautifully in the glass. The palate is remarkably generous, combining creamy lees texture with well-balanced phenolics, finishing with freshness, structure and impressive persistence.
Medium-bodied with rich texture and silky mouthfeel.
Long, savoury and delicately structured with lingering citrus peel and mineral complexity.
Every vintage, Ghost Rock hands creative control of Cellar Rat to the winery's seasonal cellar hand—the "Cellar Rat"—with one simple brief: produce an expressive, skinsy orange wine. Using fruit from the exposed Iris vineyard block, the Pinot Gris undergoes extended skin contact before ageing in neutral oak barrels. The result is a naturally made wine that showcases texture, individuality and Tasmania's cool-climate purity.
