Château des Moriers La Brirette – Lieu-dit Les Moriers Fleurie AOP 2020 is a distinguished single-vineyard Cru Beaujolais crafted from 100% Gamay. Produced by the Monrozier family, custodians of the estate since 1850, this wine comes from a one-hectare vineyard on the slopes of La Brirette, bordering the prestigious Moulin-à-Vent appellation. Sandy pink granite soils, meticulous hand harvesting and traditional Beaujolais winemaking create a Fleurie of remarkable elegance, minerality and ageing potential.

🍷 Tasting Notes: Lifted aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry intertwine with violet, rose petals, white pepper and crushed granite. The palate is silky and beautifully structured, combining vibrant red fruit with savoury spice, refined tannins and exceptional mineral freshness. Elegant today, yet capable of developing further complexity with careful cellaring.

🍽️ Food Pairings: Duck breast, roast chicken, herb-crusted lamb, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, roasted beetroot, ratatouille and charcuterie.

🌡️ Serve at: 14–16°C

🍇 Grape: 100% Gamay | Appellation: Fleurie AOP | Region: Beaujolais, France

Tasting Experience

Colour

Brilliant ruby red with vibrant violet reflections.

Aroma & Palate

The nose is immediately expressive, revealing aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry layered with delicate violet, rose petals and subtle white pepper. The old alluvial soils over pink granite contribute a distinct mineral precision that defines the wine's personality. Traditional semi-carbonic vinification preserves Gamay's fresh fruit character, while a second maceration and approximately twelve months in large 400-litre oak barrels add texture, spice and complexity without masking the elegance of the fruit. The palate is refined, vibrant and beautifully balanced, offering remarkable purity and finesse.

Body

Light to medium-bodied with silky tannins, bright acidity and exceptional elegance.

Finish

Long and persistent with lingering red berry fruit, floral perfume, savoury spice and a distinctive mineral lift.

Why This Wine Matters

Fleurie is widely regarded as the most elegant and perfumed of Beaujolais' ten Cru appellations. While neighbouring Moulin-à-Vent is celebrated for power and longevity, Fleurie is admired for its floral aromas, silky texture and refined expression of Gamay.

The Les Moriers lieu-dit occupies a privileged position on the northern slopes bordering Moulin-à-Vent, where sandy pink granite soils produce wines with greater depth, structure and ageing potential. The Monrozier family has cultivated these vineyards since 1850, preserving traditional methods that respect both the vineyard and the character of each vintage. Hand harvesting, semi-carbonic fermentation and extended maturation in large oak barrels produce a wine that captures the authenticity of Fleurie while showcasing the remarkable quality of this historic single vineyard.
