Description

The Tikves Alexandria Cuvée (Red Wine), 2017 is made from a blend (cuvée) of Vranec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. (Vranec 70 %, Merlot 20 %, Cabernet Sauvignon 10 %)

Preparation and Maturation of the Alexandria Cuvee Red Wine

The grapes are manually harvested in the middle of September to the middle of October. The harvest is followed by cold maceration for 3 days at a temperature of 8C and skin maceration for 20 days which yields the wine with rich colour and character enhancing tannins. Following fermentation the wine is then aged for 12 months.

Appearance

The wine has an intense deep ruby red colour in appearance.

Aroma

This wine showcases the characteristics of the 3 grape varieties well. Pronounced aromas of red fruits, redcurrant, red cherry, black cherry and sweet spice-cinnamon create a distinct and an interesting aroma profile.

Palate

This is a Dry red wine with medium acidity, soft tannin, full body and a long finish,

Flavours that dominate are black fruits like blackcurrant and black plum

Expect secondary flavours of cedar and some tertiary notes in the form of toast

Food Pairing

This wine is an ideal companion with grilled pork, kebabs and hard cheese like cheddar and parmesan

Serving temperature

This wine is best consumed at 14 – 16-degree celsius
