The Ezimit Terra Makedonika, (Red Wine), 2012 is made from a blend of Vranec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. (Vranec 50 %, Syrah 25 %, Cabernet Sauvignon 25 %) all grown in the Ovce Pole wine region of North Macedonia
Preparation and Maturation
The grapes are manually harvested in late September. The wine undergoes cold maceration for 2 days followed by skin maceration for 12 at an average temperature of 23 degrees. The wine is then allowed to age in American oak for 18 months.
The wine has a deep ruby colour in appearance.
This wine showcases the characteristics of the 3 grape varieties well with Vranec dominating. Plenty of black fruit character on the nose with rich spice, supported by some smoke aromas. Developing underlined by some toasty notes from the oak barrel which elevate the complexity of the wine. Very expressive peppery and black fruit nose, complex.
This is a Dry red wine with medium acidity, soft tannin, full body and a long finish,
Huge on the palate, with the intense character of dark cherries, plum and a warm liquorice notes. Long finish with good depth and richness which gives enough potential to age and smooth tannins which melt in your mouth.
This wine is an ideal companion with red meat, grilled pork, kebabs and hard cheese like cheddar and parmesan
This wine is best consumed at 14 – 16-degree celsius
